Any one in or near Charlotte North Carolina are welcome to come and observe and reflect on the True Costs of War!

A number of volunteers were very busy yesterday, 9-28-07, setting up the Memorial to the Fallen of both Iraq and Afganistan, with thoughts also of those who are not counted but their deaths are a direct result of having served in both theaters and experiancing the Hell on Earth man creates.

Thoughts and Sad memories are also embedded in the Memorial of the Tens of Thousands of Innocent Iraqi people with Code Pink setting up the 'Peace Ribbon' some of which carry the names of only a few.

The Arlington South Memorial of 4,000 Crosses is be set up in Charlotte on the first International Day of Non-Violence!

The crosses are being displayed at Independence Park (7th and Hawthorne) in Charlotte on the final weekend in September (28-30). We ask that any in or near Charlotte please stop by and visit the Memorial, especially if you can make it for the dedication ceremony at noon on Saturday Sept. 29.

The human cost of the war is enormous and increasing. This memorial is intended to be a place to mourn, reflect, contemplate, grieve, and meditate. 4,000 hand made crosses / Star of David/ Islam Crescents that honor and acknowledge those who have lost their lives and loved ones in Afghanistan and Iraq. On his new album, "Magic",
Springsteen jumps right into the fray again. In a dramatic new REM-ish anthem called "Last to Die," he sings: "Who'll be the last to die for a mistake/The last to die for a mistake/Whose blood will spill, whose heart will break/Who'll be the last to die for a mistake."
The mistake is clearly the Iraq war. "We don't measure the blood we've drawn anymore," he sings. "We just stack the bodies outside the door."
"Magic",
which hits stores Tuesday but is already widely available on the Internet, seems like a party album at first. But it has a dark underside: blood and dead bodies wend their way through the songs.

About the Show
[Streaming video of this program will be available online after broadcast]
Bouts of fierce anger, depression, and anxiety that previous generations of soldiers described as "shell shock" or "combat/battle fatigue" now earn a clinical diagnosis: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But the relatively new medical label doesn't guarantee soldiers will get the care they need. NOW looks at how America's newest crop of returning soldiers is coping with the emotional scars of war, and some new and innovative treatments for them.
In the show, we spent time with Iraq War veteran Michael Zacchea, a Marine lieutenant colonel who trained Iraqi troops and led them in the battle of Fallujah. Haunted by the violence he saw there, Zacchea and other soldiers diagnosed with PTSD now face what could be a lifelong struggle to leave the horrors of war behind and reclaim their once-peaceful lives.

GAO Report: Walter Reed Problems Have Not Been Fixed
Remember Walter Reed? After the huge scandal last spring, President Bush and the members of Congress promised to improve troops' care. They promised to take action and get our wounded veterans the care they were waiting for. They promised to make things right. Well, that promise has been broken.

Army Disowns Republicans One Week Too Late
for•ti•tude, n.: Strength of mind that allows one to endure pain or adversity with courage.
The Washington Post reported yesterday that the Army is now saying 15-month deployments without a proper recovery time are "not sustainable." Again, this is exactly what the Webb-Hagel Amendment was all about—that is, until it was torpedoed by Republican al Qaeda supporters in the Senate last week.

Is 'Funding' Really For Troops?
What Happened To Funding and Oversite For Military/Veteran Care In Previous Congresses?
The run towards a fascist Ideology, for lack of a better more modern name, started many years ago.
Many of us recognized this and have fought ever since to hold it at bay.
We will still manage to do that even in these time, but the future will be bleak, thanks to those we've allowed to take over Our Government, and Do Nothing To Oust Them from their seats of power!!
Navy to Alter Swastika-Shaped Barracks

CORONADO, Calif. (AP) -- The Navy will spend as much as $600,000 to modify a 40-year-old barracks complex that resembles a swastika from the air, a gaffe that went largely unnoticed before satellite images became easily accessible on the Internet.
Trying to remember if these were the barracks I lived in while in Counter Insurgency/S.E.R.E., before my last year In-Country 'Nam, back in '70, don't think so.
But who knows what Nixon was doing at the time, he was Bombing Cambodia, do remember that!
Now as to what's coming: Now Why Didn't Millions, around the World, Think This!!

6 nukes fly across U.S.; no one notices for 36 hours — how could it happen?
The episode, serious enough to trigger a rare "Bent Spear" nuclear incident report that raced through the chain of command to Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates and President Bush, provoked new questions inside and outside the Pentagon about the adequacy of U.S. nuclear weapons safeguards while the military's attention and resources are devoted to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The use of, the further developement of, the storage of, Should long ago have been Banned by the international community, with the U.S. leading in their Banning and Destruction!
