Our symbolic transfer from combat during 'Nam was when we were sent over no longer as labeled 'combat' but as 'advisors' once again.
That started just before I left CI/SERE in early 1970 and headed into country, we were given military beanies, i.e. berets, with the operations patch on them and called 'advisors', never did meet my supposed 'counterpart' the whole year I was there.
Iraq, and leaving Afghanistan once again ignoring our promises to help them rebuild, raised the hatred levels towards us and others, solidifying the propaganda from the extreme minority of radical elements in that region as well as other parts of the world, this won't be over for at least the coming decades!! Will Spc. Jamal M/ Rhett 24 be the last to die in Operation Iraqi Freedom, maybe under that hypocritical name as that will last till September 1st 2010 untill the ceremonial turnover on that day to the Iraqi's. But there will be 50,000 military troops remaining as well as thousands of our huge private mercenary army that this country has built and supports and who's actions have gotten our soldiers killed and maimed, many have gotten very wealthy off of, under the name "Operation New Dawn"!
For the Iraqi's, living through the past years and especially the millions of refugee's, that New Dawn will be not right around the corner, nor on September 1st 2010, but years away!
