On the anniversary of the attacks of September 11th, please take a moment to remember the American men and women fighting in Afghanistan. Here are the stories of four IAVA members who served or are serving in what has become, for many, a "forgotten war."
James Downen served with a civil affairs unit in Afghanistan - where he met his future wife, Becky Berndt, a fellow soldier and a medic.
Keith Kluwe served as a combat journalist in Afghanistan. Read his story about the evacuation of a severely wounded soldier from Bagram Air Force Base.
Ronald "Sonny" Faulseit worked closely with the Afghan National Army. He tells the story of a 4 AM RPG attack.
Read a recent blog entry from a US Army Captain still serving in Afghanistan today.
Thank you for your continued support of IAVA.
Sincerely,
Paul Rieckhoff
