Thank you for fighting for my freedom

As Posted By Bammo, a brother 'Nam Vet, over at the Veterans For America Weblog, with link to this HERE.

I was reading an article by Chris Kok from the Kent State online news. The name of the article was "The military does not make freedom, the people do". The words in this article caught me off guard, I read it twice and took a few notes for this blog.

I wear colors of the Vietnam War when riding my motorcycle and most of times when I am not on it. I always have and probably always will wear these Vietnam colors I wear these colors because the Bro's that wear them are a part of history America wants to forget - The Vietnam War. It was not long ago when a person seen these colors and didn't want any part of ya' because you were a loser, a disgrace to the land of Uncle Sam. I also wear them to remember my Bro's whose blood was spilled in a fiasco based on complete bull shit like the one the SHRUB quickly got us into in Iraq. There are not many differences between the two if one sits down and compares them, but this is not about that, this is about the people that so oftenly approach me and say "thank you for fighting for my freedom". Seriously, I have had beaucoup people approach me since the "SHRUB" fiasco began and told me this shit and tried to shake my hand. My answer to them was "I did not fight for your freedom, I fought to stay the hell alive and make sure my Bro's did the same damn thing". These people look shocked and insulted that I am not taking this as some kind of compliment. I proceed to tell them Uncle Ho (Chi Mihn) was not coming over to the U.S. to rape and pillage your family and friends. Uncle Ho was no threat to the U.S.A. and the same damn thing is going down today with your tax dollar in Iraq. Their reply, "our brave troops are fighting a war on terroism in Iraq, how dare you belittle them".

By that time , I have already scoped out the Yellow Ribbon BS and "God Bless The U.S.A." trinketts that they proudly wear, and tell them politely to Fuck Off and go tell their bullshit to someone that cares. That usually gets these instant patriots that do not know a damn thing about whats going on with our country, never mind the friggin world - to move the hell on. Where the hell does the U.S. of A. grow these morons? I am not trying to belittle the G.I. in any way, shape or form. Orders are ordes and a G.I. has to follow them or pay the consequences, but fighting for our freedom - drop the fad numb nuts and face reality.

There are a lot of sheople that have this bull shit brain that thinks we in the U.S. have freedom because of our armed forces. Lets face facts here - the sheople of today think that every war or conflict that Uncle Sammy has gotten into is connected in some strange way with keeping our freedom. This crap is far from the truth but makes number one propaganda for people like the Neocons to use on the sheople they govern. The Nam had nothing to do with stopping the spread of communism, but its main reason was to keep people of the same race in the same connected country from forming their own government. SHRUB'S Iraq is in no way about freedom or democracy. That horse shit is pure Neocon propaganda to jive up the support for this fiasco so the bucks keep rolling in. The Neocons use our G.I.'s in the same propaganda hype and ya' know what? A shit load of sheople buy that BS and swear by it as well!

What the hell is freedom then? Freedom is to do as one pleases as long as others are not harmed, freedom is havig input into one's government.

The SHRUB wants his sheople to buy that his fiasco in Iraq is for keeping freedom amongst us. He tells us over and over we were attacked because we are a free country. Ya' know if that crap had any truth, the main target would of been Europe for al-Qaida. A large percentage of Europe's forms of governments offer services and listen more to their citizens needs and wishes than the two party buy your way into office system in the U.S. Europe has many symbols of freedom that the U.S. does not have. And it doesn't take much imagination to know what these freedoms are. Why al-Qaida attacked the U.S. had nothing to do with our freedom at all.
In the U.S. the main threat to freedom is not al-Qaida, it is from the Neocons that now run this country. These are the same SOB'S that love to wave the flag and yell freedom but want to regulate peoples lives and personal liberties. In fact these same flag wavin' Neocons are stripping freedoms and liberties away from us daily. A prime example is the power that is given to the Dept. of Homeland Security by these Neocons.

I see this in print and hear people say this many times, "freedom isn't free".

Doesn't this BS express the opposite of what it really and truly means? It means freedom has a pricetag whose price is our military might is second to none. This propaganda is used to promote U.S. domination around the world. What the hell does that have to do with freedom?

Ya' know it is upsetting that a noble word like freedom makes wonderful propaganda. Just wander back in our lands history politicians frequently boasted about the Free World, where legal segregation was allowed to blacks and their right to vote did not exist. That was not to many years ago if one really dwells on the subject. The word freedom was used extensively during the Vietnam War as people were forced to perform military service. By the way, I am all for that draft once again. Why should only a small percentage carry the burden of the SHRUB fiasco? The way I think, that is not freedom that is unjust and is not fair to the people that military recruiting is aimed at, and the ones that are serving.

Seriously, if the military was used to protect against invaion, instead of going forward with imperialistic motives, then I would agree that the military was protecting freedom. Like I said earlier about our G.I.'S that serve our country now. I admire their willingness to protect freedom but sadly that is not the orders they are given.Freedom is not obtained by the government or the military. Freedom comes from the hearts of the people. Quoting Utah Phillips album, "freedom is something you assume". Then you wait for someone to take it away from you. The amount to which you resist is the amount to which you are free.I know I will get thanked again for supposidly fighting for someones freedom! But ya' know the thanks are coming a lot less and I hope the sheople are finally getting reprogramed to whats really going down! Lets hope so, as sheople that love this country.Like to give a high five to Chris Kok at Kent State for inspiring me with his awesome article!!

Excellent Article and true. The only entities that jeopordize our freedom preside in Washington. The biggest terrorists in the world reside in Washington. The world's biggest brainwashing comes from Washington who is doing no different than the Germans, Russians, Japanese, Cambodians +++++
