Description: The film is a journey through the boots of American soldiers who died in Iraq. The boots were sectioned by state and arranged in rows as if the soldiers were standing at parade rest. The exhibit passed through the United States. When it stopped in Washington State, a viewer who had a son in the military went to see it. She tells her moving experience of the exhibit and her pause to rest in front of one pair of boots. Recalling the subtle intensity of the Viet Nam memorial in Washington DC, this story of one soldier’s boots in the national exhibit, "Eyes Wide Open", presents the inescapable wartime reality of lives lost and families wounded. Personal, intense and profound, it is a story that bears telling and re-telling. A haunting, original score and the hammerlock of raw emotion create a rare viewing experience. It’s a story you won’t forget.

I just showed the film, here, in Rwanda. A young doctor asked, "What will Bush say when he sees all the boots. " Another remarked, "We need to vote for the president of the US because he affects our lives so much." How can we choose peace and reconciliation as they have in Rwanda?
