"American Prayer"

Dave Stewart, Exclusive Premiere: An Anthem For Change

The song always contained one of my favorite passages from Dr. King, which was hauntingly delivered the night before he was assassinated. King says: "I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land!"

There's abit more at the link and the ability to download the song from his site.

If change is to come it will take All Of Us, to Succeed!!

I didn`t know exactly where to put this so I am going to put here. I just want to say I love your blog it is very educating, I also want to say thank you for educating the public on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have it myself and I just wanted to thank you. I also wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service to this nation and welcome home, you as well as all other veterans mean the world to me and I thank you all and honor you all everyday for your service. I want to make a change and help you all and I believe that this country could do a 1,000 times better in getting you the care you deserve. I wish people would support you more the military is failing because of the lack of civilian support. And to our president I would ask how can you fund a war with 4.6 billion dollars a month but you can`t fund its casualties??? Why not why isn`t this taken care of I think that taking care of our veterans should be our main priority. We made a promise to these men and women and we are breaking it they should be taken care of when they come home and basically we are saying to them that, once they take off their uniform they are on their own. Especially in the mental health field, I am fifteen and I want to become a psychologist maybe even psychiatrist and help veterans with PTSD. I too have PTSD and I feel I can relate to them in some respect. But the main reason for my choice in that profession is because I believe that our veterans should get the care they deserve and they certainly aren`t getting that now. So, I just want to say thank you once again for your service and I will NEVER FORGET you or your sacrifice nor do I forget the 58,479 of you who did not make it home. I honor you all everyday, and I hope you realize that I do care and that I never forget you so once again WELCOME HOME and THANK YOU, YOU ARE NEVER FORGOTTEN and you will always have a special place in my heart

Love, Dana

Dana,

Thanks for the visit and the comment.
You're in the next generation, with the new generation of combat vets, we're still around to do our continued fighting but the ball is being placed in your court to pick up and continue. I have a niece who is just finishing up her college years and studies going into being a psychologist or more, just saw her and get the feeling an author is on the way also.
This World, not only the country, need more dedicated people, such as yourself, studying and trying to in turn teach the masses about PTSD and other Trauma debilitating experiances.
I'm extremely sadden to hear you suffer from same at such a young age but one facet of our fight to get more understanding is the fact that many in civilian life live through traumatic experiances and suffer the trauma's of, doing so in silence, with some lashing out.
Your want to learn more will help you while you're helping them!

Jim
