"Heroes in the Sandbox"

If we didn't allow Wars and Occupations of Choice {and many now will say they don't, long after they gave apparent support and were silent then and long time after} there wouldn't be any "Heroes in the Sandbox" only Heroes who serve to defend our country when really at the very last resort as well as our Constitution, that which they take an Oath to Defend both. But since we do cheer on War the kids are one who suffer and not only those of the soldier!

Children's book aims to explain military deployments

How do you explain to a child why his mommy or her friend’s daddy has to leave for a year to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan?

White Bear Lake mom Tracey Tischler recently co-authored and self-published a book that aims to do just that.

Titled "Heroes in the Sandbox" the book also hopefully will raise money to help military families.

The book was inspired by Tischler’s friend, Army Capt. Rand Shotton who was deployed to Iraq from October 2008 to October 2009. He shared with her his experience watching his fellow soldiers saying goodbye to their families. The farewells to young children were the most heartbreaking, he told her. -->-->-->
