Speaker travels from Vietnam to deliver annual Coventry Peace Lecture



29 October 2010 - The subject of the annual event was Agent Orange, a chemical herbicide used by US troops during the Vietnam War, which has left the country with a terrible legacy.

Prof Boi said: “The war has been over for 35 years, but for victims of Agent Orange it hasn’t.”

During the Vietnam War, vast quantities of Agent Orange – named after the orange containers it was transported in – were sprayed on the forests of Vietnam, killing the vegetation and leaving the communist Viet Cong soldiers nowhere to hide.

But the dioxin in Agent Orange has left the country with huge health and environmental problems since the war, causing three million Agent Orange victims. {read rest}
