Lejeune Claims on Water Contamination

Great News and much more is needed as to past issues and the present related to the Military and Us Veterans of the wars of choice of this country and Actual 'Sacrifice' from the huge majority that Don't Serve the Country in any form!! But the tepublicans, as is the norm for decades, will scream that funding needs are found from other public funded issues, something they didn't and don't do as to their rubber stamping of all related costs of the Wars and the Billions made off of! 'Sacrifice' is a foreign word, tax cuts are what their supporters want!!

VA sets up a new office for Lejeune claims

Dec. 21, 2010 - WASHINGTON Responding to publicity and some inconsistent decisions on claims, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs this week will begin training workers on how to handle disability claims related to historic water contamination at Camp Lejeune.

The VA will consolidate claims at one office in Louisville, Ky. There, eight employees will focus on culling, researching and adjudicating disability claims related to contaminated water at the Marine base.

The move is more than bureaucratic. It could prove significant to Marine veterans across the country suffering from cancers and other diseases that they believe are related to the poisonous chemicals that flowed through Lejeune's water from the mid-1950s to the mid-1980s. A service-connected claim offers health care coverage and payments to veterans for their disability and financial help to their family if they die.

"Great. Great!" said Marine veteran Peter Devereaux of North Andover, Mass., when told about the VA's decision. "It seems they're stepping up and trying to take control." {continued}
