Yep, where once the U.S. was envied around the planet as 'the' leader in advancing technologies, products, life idea's, economic growth, etc., China and others are filling that big empty void and leading in those natural advancements of human and planet life. While many here, they don't even need to believe in the obvious around them, continue to lock the brakes on what we once were all in the name of quick profit and unregulated business practices.

China ‘Winning the Green Economy Race,’ UN Climate Chief Says

Jan 27, 2011 - China is pushing ahead of the U.S. and Europe in developing clean- and low-carbon energy as a way to spur the nation’s economy, the diplomat leading United Nations Climate talks said.

“China is going to leave all of us in the dust,” Christiana Figueres, head of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, said at a panel discussion today at the World Economic Forum today in Davos, Switzerland. “They’re committed to winning the green economy race.

China last year boosted spending on low-carbon energy by 30 percent to $51.1 billion, ‘‘by far the largest figure for any country,’’ Bloomberg New Energy Finance said Jan. 11. Global accounting firm Ernst & Young said in September that China for the first time overtook the U.S. in its quarterly index of the most attractive countries for renewable energy projects.

‘‘You can leapfrog -- you don’t have to follow the model of the north,’’ Figueres said. ‘‘China is showing this.’’ {continued}

UN climate talks in focus at Davos forum

U.S. businesses must do more to pressure Congress to act on climate change and realize that China is "winning the green race," world leaders and climate change experts said Thursday at the World Economic Forum.

In a panel discussion at Davos, where some 2,500 business leaders and politicans are gathered, U.N. climate chief Christiana Figueres said China "is going to leave us all in the dust" in the transition toward a more energy-efficient global economy.

The Chinese, she said, "are not doing it just because they want to save the planet. They are doing it because it's good for the economy." {continued}

China, and others, now have the trades and growing experience in that we have lost to not only maintain the growth in advancing and innovation but to lead where now we follow, while falling further backwards!

Green Financial Services May Create 7,000 Jobs

27/01/2011 - The current Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, has announced he believes new 'green' financial services could produce 7,000 jobs and "put Ireland at the heart of green business".

According to Mr Cowen today, the Green International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) will target environmentally related financial services bringing employment and revenue.

The Taoiseach said "By supporting the establishment of the ‘Green IFSC’, Ireland is positioning itself as leading financial services centre for the management of carbon and green finance.

"This initiative will help to maintain the competitive advantage of the IFSC and has the potential to create in the next five years over 7,000 new jobs and €6 billion in revenue from this emerging sector. This is a significant boost for the development of Ireland’s Smart Economy."

Mr Cowen's new policy comes on the same day the US President Barack Obama singled out investment for green jobs programmes during his State of the Union Address. The President said during his annual address in the House of Representatives chamber, that investment in green jobs would be key to American economic recovery. {continued}
