Apr. 26, 2011 - Thousands of photographed faces line the wall in the lobby of the Helen Laird Fine Arts building on the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County campus.

The photos are of more than 5,000 American military members who have died serving in Iraq or Afghanistan and are part of the "Always Lost: A Meditation on War" exhibit.

"This reminds people of the fact that we are at war," said Interim UW-M/WC Dean Julie Tharp. "To remind them of the lives that have been lost, and other lives have been irreparably damaged."

The photo gallery shows images of all the servic members who have died since Sept. 11, 2001, and has been circulating the UW College campuses for the past year, said Ruth Elderbrook, director of the UW-M/WC library.

The exhibit includes 20 Pulitzer Prize-winning photos from Dallas Morning News photographers during their time in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Mary Staudenmaier, a Marinette resident, saw the exhibit when it was featured at Western Nevada College while she was visiting family members in Carson City, Nev. {continued}
