Blame for Diminished Gun-Violence Federal Research

As stated today, 16 January 2013, by the President in announcing the Government will tackle the issues despite the extremist gun lobby and their congressional and state legislative lackeys!!

Gun lobby to blame for diminished gun-violence federal research, report says

It doesn't take a rocket scientist, as they say, to know why there's been a growing reversal in this type of research important, especially in this society awash with easy to obtain weapons and ammunition, to an often called civil society that even to this day calls itself same. They fear the studies would open to the truth that much of the violence of gun, deaths, maiming's, is carried out by legally obtained guns and carried out by the owners, probably dues paying members, or the off spring of, or in the case of the Webster NY firefighters shootings by guns bought by a straw buyer for an ex-con felon of murder. I've always wondered, though it became very obvious very quickly, why the major gun organizations, like the NRA that calls itself a supporter of gun rights and especially gun safety and the gun manufacturers, go dead silent about gun violence when the tragic events unfold to the Nation and the World. They know what the research into would show, so does the major media as they to slide around the issues, evident especially in the Sandy Hook elementary shootings, but also in many others of similar mass tragedy. Easy to just blame a known mentally troubled youth shooter, who obviously wasn't getting the help needed that the mother could well afford, and not the so called law abiding, but not diagnosed with mental issues, mother who stockpiled the guns and hundreds to thousands of rounds of ammunition and loaded clips at the ready and why she felt the need to stockpile! Nor is a problem with mental behavior seen when many rush out to gun shops and gun shows, packing them, as soon as the tragic events unfold and are drawn there with marketing schemes about the governments coming to take away the guns. Those rushing to don't even ask themselves why they just do it like obedient clients of the masters, extremely hypocritical they are themselves, as those masters fill their coffers with the food and clothing revenue those buying complain they don't have, especially in a stagnant trying to grow back economy they blame is the fault of others.

January 16, 2013 - Public funding for research into gun violence has dwindled since the mid-1990s, as a result of pressure from the gun lobby, says a new report from Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

The advocacy group, co-chaired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, released the report Jan. 14 to mark one month after the Sandy Hook school shooting.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spent an average of $2.5 million per year on gun-safety research from 1993 to 1996, but that fell by 95 percent over the next 15 years, the report says. In 1996, President Bill Clinton signed a law that included a $2.6 million cut to a part of the CDC that had spent that amount on gun-related research the year before.

That provision also forbade the CDC from using its funding to "promote gun control," though the report notes that federal research agencies already may not advocate for political issues.

By 2012, the CDC spent less than $100,000 on gun-related research, and the report says public funding for such research now totals less than $2 million per year, less than 1 percent of the amount for motor-vehicle-safety research. read more>>>

Mayors Against Illegal Guns: Gun Violence Report

While the lobbies, gun manufacturers, gun owners, scream about their rights to bear any weapon they destroy the rights of everyone else. The rights of children to safely attend schools, the rights of their communities to safely shop at stores and malls, the rights to pursuit of happiness in going to the movies and on and on and on!
