The Iraq War, Ten Years After

March 19, 2013 marks a decade since former U.S. President George W. Bush ordered the American invasion of Iraq. Beginning with an Allied forces campaign against military targets and a mission to capture Saddam Hussein, the war led to large-scale sectarian civil violence and a destabilization of the region that continues to affect world affairs after the U.S. withdrawal in 2011.

Now, 10 years after it all began, VII photographers who covered the war's pivotal events revisit their experiences of the conflict, reflecting on the moments that most deeply affected them and re-releasing the wartime stories that define our understanding of the war today.
