America's Debt: At Military Grocery Stores, More Food Stamps Used

America's, Long Time, Shame!!

And Military families, especially with deployed military members, aren't the only ones of the Military and once Military family as tens of thousands of Military Veterans depend on the SNAP programs. Disabled, laid off during these years of the obstruction in job growth, tougher job markets or none at all, the homeless veterans, senior veterans on social security.

"12 years also is a long time. We now have a lifetime responsibility to a generation of service members, veterans and their families." Dr. Jonathan Woodson 11 Sep. 2013: With 9/11 Came Lifetime Responsibility {Two tax cuts, especially for the wealthy, came with these two present long wars!}

Food stamp use among military rises again
We can cheer abandoning of the missions so quickly after the Military responded to same after 9/11, to invade another country!

We can defend allowing that executive administration and those congresses to put all the war costs on the countries credit card and even keep them off the books till executive administrations change years after, all with interest to be paid on that huge debt!

February 17, 2014 - More military families used food stamps to buy milk, cheese, meat and bread at military grocers last year.

Food stamp redemption at military grocers has been rising steadily since the beginning of the recession in 2008. Nearly $104 million worth of food stamps was redeemed at military commissaries in the fiscal year ended Sept. 30.

"I'm amazed, but there's a very real need," said Thomas Greer, spokesman for Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that helps soldiers on the financial brink nationwide.

Some of the growth in soldiers' redemption of food stamps reflects the weak economic recovery, especially for spouses looking for jobs. In 2012, there was a 30% unemployment rate among spouses off active-duty military who were 18 to 24 years old, according to the Military Officers Association of America, which released the survey last week.

Spouses who have to relocate every few years have a tough time finding work in the private sector. read more>>>

We can defend and support paying individuals well into six figure compensation for a private civilian mercenary army, not under the Military Uniform Code of Justice, and huge profits to those operating same with investors on wall street also reaping from same and all them borrowed war costs investments!

We can ignore, DeJa-Vu all over again, the veterans from while little to nothing is being done for them till, once again, executive administrations changed and for awhile congress did also.

We can follow the very similar lead of previous decades of congressional representatives as to veterans in laying blame on the continued decades and wars from under funded Veterans Administration, while not comparing to the richly compensated similar private sector facilities etc. problems, agency while those same representatives seek to cut the budget of. Still mostly borrowed as country stays in deficits with interest payments!

We can wave them flags and many claiming that patriotism, words and symbols, very easy to use, are empty and hollow of real meaning!
