Internal Pentagon documents show the increases, which come as the services struggle with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and a shortage of therapists.............

Life for women in Afghanistan has gotten worse since the Taliban were removed from power. Once they chafed under the slavish conditions the Taliban imposed on their daily lives. Today they suffer under the exact same conditions, this time under the rule of the regime of warlords put in place by the U.S.-led coalition. And in addition to this oppression, women in Afghanistan are forced to cope with war.

Little has changed in Gaza since the war in January, with thousands of families still living in tents and homes and schools still just rubble and ruins.

But life for many children has never been the same since Israel launched its offensive three months ago.

In January, Israeli bombs flattened the main building of this school in northern Gaza, destroying eight of the school's 20 classrooms.

The students had already evacuated but the three-storey block was crushed; the top floor still dangles dangerously over the schoolground and giant slabs of jagged concrete hang precariously in mid-air.

C Bomb Exports Permanently Banned!‏

I received this yesterday, on the 11th, from the Friends Committee on National Legislation and was going to post it around but couldn't get the links to load, they're fine now, So Please Use Them!

President Obama signed a law yesterday, March 11 2009, that will make permanent a ban on nearly all cluster bomb exports from the United States. Congress included the export ban in an omnibus budget bill that passed the Senate last night. This provision will move the U.S. one step closer to the position of the nearly 100 nations--including our closest NATO allies--that signed a treaty banning cluster munitions in December.

The legislation states that cluster munitions can only be exported if they leave behind less than one percent of their submunitions as duds, and if the receiving country agrees that cluster munitions "will not be used where civilians are known to be present." Only a very tiny fraction of the cluster munitions in the U.S. arsenal meet the one percent standard. This export ban was first enacted in a similar budget bill in December 2007, but that law mandated it for only one year.

U.S.-exported cluster bombs were most recently used by Israel in Southern Lebanon, where dud rates were reportedly as high as 40 percent; hundreds of civilians and deminers have been killed or maimed since the fighting ended in 2006.

Now Congress needs to take the next step and ban U.S. use of these deadly weapons. Nearly one in four senators have already cosponsored the Cluster Munitions Civilian Protection Act (S. 416), introduced one month ago, which would stop the military from using virtually all of the cluster bombs in its vast arsenal by applying this same one percent standard to U.S. use. Do your senators support this bill? If not, urge them to co-sponsor today. If it's unacceptable to export high dud-rate cluster bombs, then it's unacceptable to use them. Growing Senate support for S. 416 will show President Obama that the U.S. public stands with the rest of the world in supporting a ban on cluster bombs.

As 17 year old Soraj Ghulam Habib from Herat, Afghanistan, who lost both legs to a U.S. cluster submunition in 2001 observes, "You'd ban them for sure, if you had them here." Click here to see what a cluster bomb would do to your neighborhood.

Cluster Bomb Exports Curbed by New U.S. Law

The United States banned exports of most kinds of controversial cluster bombs under spending legislation signed this week by U.S. President Barack Obama, two U.S. Senators said March 12.

The new restrictions, which make permanent a one-year ban first enacted in December 2007, were part of a $410-billion spending plan that lawmakers passed March 10 and Obama signed March 11.

Dropped from warplanes or fired from artillery guns, cluster bombs explode in mid-air to randomly scatter hundreds of bomblets, which can be just eight centimeters (three inches) in size.

Many bomblets fail to explode, littering war zones with de facto landmines that can kill and maim long after a conflict ends.

On January 12th 2009 President bush gave his final Press Conference to the Nation.

In it he made a number of statements that have been analyzed by many, my take on his answers and spin was his showing how little a man, who is in total denial and lacking any compassion or moral feelings, of how big a failure as a person, and especially as the President, he has been!

In one of his answers he said this:

"The most urgent threat that he'll have to deal with and other presidents after him will have to deal with is an attack on our homeland," Bush said. "You know, I wish I could report that's not the case, but there's still an enemy out there that would like to inflict damage on America."

And for once I agree with this incompetent,immoral, unrepentant little man?, he's created tens of thousands, that didn't exist before, who now wish this Country and It's Citizens Harm, "Mission Accomplished", for the coming decades!!

We can all see, daily, those who are retaliating for the policies he set forth, in Iraq and Afghanistan, from the death and destruction that is ongoing, with our soldiers still dying and being maimed as well as the innocent citizens of both countries, the word is "Blowback"! These policies have also brought about a rise of Criminal Terrorism, around the World, over these last 7 years.

What does the future hold and for how long?

I've done a few posts, this is but one, about that probable future and the possibility of reaching into the coming generations, how many, who knows right now. But it only takes a few who carry the hatreds that they have grown up with to create destructive blowback, and that builds towards more of the same.

Michael Haas has a recent write on just this probable future, more geared in the present of who should be brought to accountability, but there are certainly more who actually created the failed policies we've been party to. The name of Michael article is: Children As Unlamented Victims of Bush's 'War On Terror'.

He starts it out with:

Torture has received the most attention among the many war crimes of the Bush administration. But those who support Bush’s pursuit of the “war on terror” have not been impressed by recriminations over torture.

Some will try and argue that certain forms of torture really aren't, or that it's needed to get information, it isn't for it only gives weak or false information, yet we as a Nation have not only participated but helped write the laws on torture and ratified these laws making them our own. The link only gives one of the World Wide conventions held for the purpose of writing these laws that aim to end the use of inhumane treatment of torture, and more, that doesn't return what is sought, reliable intelligence. We were also the major contributor to the Geneva Conventions and major condemner of countries who don't follow what was done in Geneva. We are now publicly one of the participants, we can condemn no more.

We've all watched, most in total disbelief and rage, what has happened under this president and his administrations policies along with his political parties affiliation rubber stamping their wants, and we've done virtually nothing but allow it to continue.

Haas goes further into what most haven't paid attention to:

The best kept secret of the Bush’s war crimes is that thousands of children have been imprisoned, tortured, and otherwise denied rights under the Geneva Conventions and related international agreements. Yet both Congress and the media have strangely failed to identify the very existence of child prisoners as a war crime. In the Islamic world, however, there is no such silence. Indeed, the prophet Mohammed was the first to counsel warriors not to harm innocent children.

The first example of war crimes against children, which are well documented, occurred during the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, when the children’s hospital in Kabul was bombed, its patients thereby murdered, contrary to the Red Cross Convention of 1864. Other children were killed as “collateral damage” during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, contrary to the Geneva Convention ban on indiscriminate killing in wartime, though numbers of dead are unknown. During spring 2004, during the assault on Falluja, Iraq, some 300 children, including peaceful demonstrators, were killed. Their dead bodies were filmed live on al-Jazeera Television throughout the Arabic-speaking world.

In 2008, the Bush administration reported to the UN-assisted Committee on the Rights of the Child that the United States from 2002 had detained 2,400 children in Iraq and 100 in Afghanistan, though another source claims that the figure for Afghanistan is at least 800 boys, aged 10 to 15, from whom as many as 64 were sent to Guantánamo, of which there were 21 as of May 2008. That month, the Committee upbraided the United States for charging minors with war crimes instead of treating underage persons as victims of war. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s two children, aged 7 and 9, were separately detained to intimidate him to confess.

Think about the above, as parents what would You do if your country was and is being destroyed and the children of were being treated as enemies or used for other purposes and excused as being in War! But there's more:

While detained, several children have been brutalized and tortured. At Abu Ghraib, American guards videotaped Iraqi male prisoners raping young boys but took no action to stop the offenses. Perhaps the worst incident at Abu Ghraib involved a girl aged 12 or 13 who screamed for help to her brother in an upper cell while stripped naked and beaten. Iraqi journalist Suhaib Badr-Addin al-Baz, who heard the girl’s screams, also witnessed an ill 15-year-old who was forced to run up and down Abu Ghraib with two heavy cans of water and beaten whenever he stopped. When he finally collapsed, guards stripped and poured cold water on him. Finally, a hooded man was brought in. When unhooded, the boy realized that the man was his father, who doubtless was being intimidated into confessing something upon sight of his brutalized son.

Those that want to denie, for argumentative our some twisted form of political ideology, what torture or inhumane treatment of others actually is or isn't, look at your's or other little kids, young teens, and ask if you would want them treated like animals, and if so to what purpose!

Michael Haas has a book out George W. Bush, War Criminal?: The Bush Administration's Liability for 269 War Crimes I haven't read as yet, as I just ordered it, but it will be read and added to the others and all that is now being written and discussed as to what this Nation must do, not only for our own survival of what we are, but the World view of us as a Leader of Nations and an Example to Emulate and Strive towards.

We must find the ways to bring Accountability for the Crimes against our Laws as well as the Laws we've helped form towards World stability and make our Constitution strong again, or we will collapse as a society and be scorned by the World!

And we must find a way, amongst All People, to stem the possibility of many of the children of today, growing up under occupation, death and destruction, don't become even more violent and destructive towards others than that we've already created through our failed policies of the past and the near past!

We have a Whole Host of Extreme Problems, especially now, after we and the world, have been sent on a spiraling direction that will only lead to the Extremes of Diasterous Incidents that the coming generations will be facing!

From Retaliations for the Deaths and Destructions we have wrought to the Speeding Up of a Planet's Climate Change that may just make the Human Animal Extinct, just as other living creatures are disappearing right now, to the monatary costs that these future generations will bear because of our selfish follies of the present!

Become what You are supposed to be, Responsible Adults!. Get off those butts and out from sitting in front of these technologies bitching and complaining And Actually Get Involved, there's Alot Of Important Work To Be Done and an Awful Lot Of Corrections to be made, And Fast!!!

In big and small ways, each of you have mentored me, nurtured me, rooted for me, and worked with me as I moved two years ago into the issue of advocating for our returning veterans and military families. The need for your help was and is great, and remains greatly appreciated.

Even more so, especially to those who have been at this a lot longer than I have, I thank you for embracing me and sending me in the right directions when I simply asked for your assistance or advice. You helped to expand my networks exponentially, giving me the chance to learn more about the issue from the very best hearts and minds out there. Thank you so very much.

I know that all of these efforts were not specifically on my behalf personally. The need is so great and the difficulties so real for our military families coping with combat PTSD that anyone willing to come into the fold – be they even a novice such as myself – is welcomed with open arms and kindheartedness. Rebuilding Iraq in the Saddam Mold

As everyone already knows General David Petraeus will be visiting Congress to give -his-{nope} -gwb's-{nope} cheney's report on the -surge-{nope} escalation, long ago passing any discription for the word 'surge'.

As we also already know the -surge-{nope} escalation was brought on to give time for what everyone one refers to as the political process to take hold. That doesn't seem to be what's happening and frankly many thought it wouldn't.

Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds drift further apart as U.S. battles insurgents

And lets make clear those 'insurgents' are not all al-Qaida, and al-Qaida is still a small presence within that country. Although when one doesn't understand who their fighting everyone comes under one umbrella and labeled the same, and it works great for PR back here.

They leave behind a Baghdad radically altered from before the war, when Shiites, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians lived side by side. Now, a neighborhood becomes calm only after its minority community has fled. Armed men keep outsiders away.

As many already know, one we've followed, who's been living in and posting about, Riverbend and her family, have finally gotten out as well, to Syria, to join the already well over 2.5million refugee's living in neighboring countries, with some 2million refugee's still living within the borders of Iraq.

Ethnic Cleansing Has Been Going On With The Occupation Forces Unable To Stop It!

Before his trip to Congress General Petraeus wrote a letter to the troops.

We are now over two-and-a-half months into the surge of offensive operations made possible by the surge of forces, and I want to share with you my view of how I think we’re doing. This letter is a bit longer than previous ones, since I feel you deserve a detailed description of what I believe we have -- and have not accomplished, as Ambassador Crocker and I finalize the assessment we will provide shortly to Congress.

I don't want to speak bad about Petraeus, he seemed to have a real care for his troops and the intelligence his rank requires. But if he's allowing himself, redux Vietnam, to be controlled by the civilian leadership we've gone down this road already, in the past and to many times in the near past and present.

We need Real Truth from the General, All Layed Out In Plain English, not what's reported to be a short opening report than just answering questions, and lets hope this won't be another attoney general like testimony.

I for one do not want to watch another General, like General Powell, sit in the limelights and spin a tail of 'once upon a time'!

Lets take a look at a few recent reports ourselves, before we hear the -Petraeus-{nope} -bush-{nope} cheney report this week.

Alliances are made in Guerilla/Insurgent Wars, and they are broken, than made with others or even with the same. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends, and the circle goes round and round the longer the conflict goes on. This happens, especially as an occupying force tries to get some sort of control, because a power vacume has been created and this being readily recognized causes diiferant forces and individuals to want to fill that vacume and take local control or total control. Occupying forces and puppet governments cannot fill that void nor control, for long, what will eventually take place.

This first video, of once rogue Iraqi forces, shows what are now considered Elite Forces working side by side with American forces, but still fighting the mostly sectarian conflict with our military troops helping them. New friends, once enemies, how long will the friendship last.

I don't watch CBS News, sorry Katie, but one I try to catch, when I find out she's got a report up is Lara Logan. This young lady is a throwback to great journalism. She gets out of the Greenzone and right into the middle of the story, and you understand what she's reporting and what she leaves out verbally, but is still there in her reporting.

Iraq's Military Elite Among World's Best

Iraq's best soldiers are caught in the middle of constantly shifting alliances that make this war increasingly complicated for them - and for the United States.

As one commander says in the report:

"The way they surgically take down these targets, the way they treat everyone with respect and dignity, they are phenomenal and I would put them up against anybody," says a Green Beret commander.
"Even Americans?" asks Logan. "Even Americans," he replies.

Be careful what you say commander for it may come to be.

Remember everyone, we helped install Saddam, gave him the support to build his military and special forces, that surpressed his internal enemies and any others deemed the need to surpress and control, they did the dirty work.

Here is another great reporter that also takes her shots outside of the relative comfort of the Greenzone, Martha Raddatz, and gives some very moving and important reports, and like Logan you understand the point even if she doesn't say the decriptive words. There are to few, in todays multi-media, that are actually professional journalists reporting what really are the important stories. Alot of 'pretty faces' but lacking the needed drive of a professional.

The children, aged 11 to 17 years old, are accused of crimes ranging from theft to killing Iraqis or Americans.

These kids{?} were born under a surpressive regime we once supported, they grew up under extremely tight sanctions, and they've so far survived the destructive devestation of the invasion and occupation. They have grown well beyond their years, for their childhoods never really existed.

And as said in the report:

Doug Stone. "We have IED builders ... have those that have been behind ... parts of assassination groups."

It only takes a few, who don't become model citizens, that take out in search of the means for revenge, Criminal Terrorism, only a few!

What trumps political ideology and religious ideology, yet both are used as the excuses in mans destructive behavior.

Trouble is neither can be effective to quell the hatreds that arise from our destructive policies and behavior, and it need only linger and grow in a few!

That which is the trump card of the now and coming future are the extremely misguided policy of, and Lost, War in Iraq and the forgotten already Lost War in Afganistan. Why is Afganistan a Lost Conflict, because it never accomplished what it was supposedly intended to do and that is to bring Justice to the Leaders of the Guilty 'Criminals' that are accused of the Attack of September 11th 2001. And that conflict is already, once again, spiralling out of control!
Why is Iraq an already Lost endevor, because it should never have occurred, and it was lost the moment we went in. We ripped apart Pandora's Box and the future will only bring more Death and Destruction.

And why,because We are an Occupying Military Force, in Iraq, and We have Once Again Installed a Puppet Government into Power, just as we did with Saddam and the years of Support given him!

There are at least 3080 U.S. Military Casulties In-Country, 11 of those are still unconfirmed by the DoD, as of today 1-29-07. Many of those KIA's have children, no counts as to exactly how many have lost a father or mother. Those children aren't living in the Theater, the children of Iraq are and they, and the kids in that region, know full well what is going on, way too many children of Iraq have been Casulties!

For all who are still young and have little ones nearby take a long hard look at them, than start thinking how you're going to explain the 'Why are we fighting these people?", when they are older and you're in that perverbial rocking chair. Because they are going to ask and you had better have a Damn Good Reason, because I'll be long gone, or to damn old, and I don't have one now nor will I than.

There isn't one!

One things for sure they probably won't ask "Why do they hate us so?" as the greater majority did here not long ago, they'll probably know at least a little bit of the past!

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Jan. 24, 2007 — A video that Iraqis are trading via e-mail and cell phones shows young boys reenacting the hanging of Saddam Hussein, child's play in the Iraq.
In this country, where nearly 50 percent of the population is under 18, a new generation is being raised on violence.
"A lot of my friends have been killed by explosions," said Zeen who has endured eight operations on his legs after a being hit by a terrorist bomb.

WE ARE DOING THIS, WE HAVE GIVEN THEM THIS LIFE, WE HAVE SHOWN THEM WHAT DEATH DESTRUCTION AND HATRED LOOKS LIKE!

The Education Ministry states elementary school attendance rates dropped from 75 percent in 2005 to 30 percent last year.

So much for these new schools that really aren't anyway. And as each day goes by We create more of the Hatred to come!

Powers now heads War Kids Relief , which offers youth programs in Iraq.

They won't be joining into the destructive forces because of a lack of things to do, it'll be because of the death and destruction we have wrought!
And keep in mind the trauma of the deaths and destruction they are witnessing bringing on the PTSD nightmares of their daily lives, and that many will turn those nightmares into a destructive force within!

For Americans to break our addiction to war, it will take families working together to live year-round the peace and joy to the world that we sing in Christmas and New Year’s greetings.

One of the tragedies of the war in Iraq is that our soldiers, many of whom are sons and daughters of Vietnam veterans, marched off to a war that bore all the warning signs of the disaster in Vietnam. Like their parents, they eagerly went off to fight in a foreign land they knew nothing about, for a cause that collapsed in the light of the actual facts. What does it take to break such a cycle of excitement and disaster?

And again, take a good long hard look at the little ones in your life, or those you might see while out and about, and keep the thought in mind, "What have we done and what will they be living through because of our actions?"!!!
