One of Tuesday's big mysteries was the motivation behind anti-Obama protester William Kostric, the man who brought a loaded gun to the town hall meeting and carried a sign referencing Thomas Jefferson's famous credo, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of tyrants and patriots."

A right-wing activist named "William Kostric," who's left a lot of footprints around the Web, is listed as a "team member" of the Arizona chapter of We the People, the far-right group best known for joining a lawsuit challenging Obama's right to be president based on his not being a U.S. citizen. Kostric told MSNBC he recently moved from Arizona to New Hampshire. (Kostric did not reply to Salon's e-mail request for an interview.).....................

Who is this William Kostric, the gun toter at a "Town Hall Democracy In Action" meeting with a President of the United States, a Domestic Terrorist or Coward?

That's easy to answer, He's Both!

Showing up at this Town Hall, citizens asking questions of their representatives in this case the President, meeting packing a loaded gun strapped to his thigh, like some modern day cowboy, causing many of those, especially with the many Children brought to experience an act of pure Democracy that the state of New Hampshire takes great pride in their long history of organizing and holding, to wonder when and if that gun was coming out of the holster and why!

A Coward because, while trying to act like some big tough guy male, he apparently was in fear of a large crowd and needed his security blanket to put fear into those around him, here in the United States!

A Domestic Terrorist, he needs to feel like a man by putting fear into innocents around him, well seems the message he was sending and standing behind was used before, and has been used many times in this countries history by the extremist within!

Global War on Terror: How Long, at What Cost?

War Without End?

Is this Global War on Terror going to last forever? Has it already changed our nation from an historically defensive Athens to an offensive Sparta whose military looks everywhere for trouble and finds it? Who is calculating the cost-to-benefit ratio of sending Green Berets and other Special Operations troopers into remote corners of the world to assassinate suspected terrorists?

Ever since the Vietnam War, our presidents have ushered members of Congress into the grandstand where they can boo or cheer military decisions but not make them, despite what the Constitution says right there in Article 1, Section 8: "The Congress shall have power to provide for the common defense."

Unlike Congress, William Greider, a brilliant writer and analyst, has looked these and other dangers in the eye and told us what he sees around the corner in his new book, "Come Home, America: The Rise and Fall (and Redeeming Promise) of Our Country".

He dares to write in the book that America has indeed transformed itself from Athens to Sparta to the point that our unchecked militarism endangers us all. What follows is an excerpt from his chapter entitled "The Next War:"

"The U. S. military, despite its massive firepower and technological brilliance, has itself become the gravest threat to our peace and security. Our risks and vulnerabilities around the world are magnified and multiplied because the American military has shifted from providing national defense to taking the offensive worldwide, from being a vigilant defender to being an adventurous aggressor in search of enemies.

"The predicament this muscle-bound approach puts our country in is dangerous and new," Greider warns. "Go looking for trouble around the world and you are likely to find it. The next war may be a fight that is provoked not by them but by us. The next war may already have started somewhere in the world, perhaps in a small, obscure country that we've never considered threatening."

I agree with Greider that there is a new attack elephant in the American living room. The old watchdog that would bark if some stranger knocked at the door but only bite if he broke into the house has been retired. Obama and Defense Secretary Robert Gates seem to have fallen in love with Army Green Berets, Navy SEALs and Marine special operators who do their deadly work in the shadows.

The mentality is creating More hatreds towards us and any who go along with this mentality that first there's a War on what is and are criminal acts of terror, as we wage the same terror ourselves!

Those Hatreds create more 'enemies' towards the policies thus creating the 'Blowback' seeking retaliation for strong arming others to our will and wishes, all I might add for Wealth and Power, Not for any type of 'National Security'.

The mentality left from the previous administration not only was dumped into the hands of others, as they walked away fat cats, but has assured a long lasting extreme problem with the growth of the criminal terror groups and hatreds, this will now last for decades.

The total opposite of what they did would have not only contained that growth but if we had acted as we say and think we are, towards others, would have rather quickly brought those guilty to justice and dampened any further growth in the retaliation!

That total opposite is to have used the total world support we had because of 9/11. Taken that support and working with intelligence agencies and law enforcement tactics, bringing in the military as a partner not a destructive force when needed, would have contained these relatively small groups of criminal terrorist. We went into Afghanistan to take down the leading force harboring those who were guilty of the 9/11 attacks and to find and arrest or kill those guilty parties. Making promises to the Afghans of helping them re-build and restructure after the many years of occupation and war with the soviets and than the taliban regime. We quickly left and focused All of our attention on an innocent country and a once great friend and supporter, who we helped place in the dictatorial rule of his people, in Iraq, leaving minimal military forces in Afghanistan and not bringing in the help we promised, once again, as we did after the Soviet occupation.

We're still in Afghanistan, building up military forces, we're still in Iraq, not pulling down our occupation forces, and we're bombing and probably invading across the border into Pakistan. All this is Creating hatreds not Winning Hearts and Minds in the Whole Region. We've killed tens of thousands, we've destroyed two countries as we say we're helping to rebuild, we're now bombing another killing more innocents than insurgents fighters. We're fighting the present inhabitants whose numbers are growing, worldwide, not diminishing, and the children of the region growing up in all of this will be the future Criminal Terrorist seeking the 'Blowback' for the lives we've given them and the deaths and destruction we've caused, the Terror We've Waged on Them!!

We are a very arrogant society, led by the extremely arrogant, and as shown in the previous administration and those recent congresses, extremely incompetent. We consider ourselves at the top with any others way below our feet and care nothing about them nor who or what they are even after we invade and occupy them. We make and rewrite histories, not only our own but others, to suit our needs or propaganda of a time, or in rewriting the present we're going to do better then others who've tried before us, the same wants.

Back in the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan this, about the tribalism, was mentioned as well. And it isn't only tribalism that will fuel an insurgency against an occupying military force, but nationalism of the residents occupied and those in the surrounding region of the occupation, it destabilizes the structures set up within each country.

Did 'returning' terrorists become extremists in Guantanamo?

One of the detainees whom a newly released Pentagon report says returned to the battlefield after he was released from the Guantanamo Bay prison camp told McClatchy that he was a local security leader in Afghanistan when he was arrested and became a radical Islamist only during his detention.

A second, a Kuwaiti man charged with links to al Qaida, told McClatchy that he'd never been to Afghanistan when he was arrested in a hotel room in Peshawar, Pakistan. He later contradicted himself, however, was held for three and a half years and is now listed as a suspected terrorist............

For those released, as apparently there was not enough evidence that they were even fighters against an invader to their country, after years in Gitmo and elsewhere and the more than just 'waterboarding' torture used, What Would Make Some Think That Some of Them Wouldn't Become Combatants and Possible Criminal Terrorists, than add in the numbers of innocents who survived these years in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Numbers are out of site!!

It only takes a few to wage Criminal Terrorism against masses, they've already lived in the terror waged on them and their countries!!

Former Interrogator Rebukes Cheney for Torture Speech

Dick Cheney says that torturing detainees has saved American lives. That claim is patently false. Cheney's torture policy was directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of American servicemen and women.

Matthew Alexander was the senior military interrogator for the task force that tracked down Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq and, at the time, a higher priority target than Osama bin Laden. Mr. Alexander has personally conducted hundreds of interrogations and supervised over a thousand of them.

"Torture does not save lives. Torture costs us lives," Mr. Alexander said in an exclusive interview at Brave New Studios. "And the reason why is that our enemies use it, number one, as a recruiting tool...These same foreign fighters who came to Iraq to fight because of torture and abuse....literally cost us hundreds if not thousands of American lives."

MARILYN YOUNG: My heart sank. It absolutely sank. It had been very high. I had been, like I think the rest of the country, feeling immensely encouraged and inspired by this new administration and by the energy and vigor with which he began. And then comes this piece of old stuff on approach to a complicated question that in comes in the form of a bomb and a bomb in the most dangerous of all places. And, yeah, my heart sank, literally.

BILL MOYERS: Our military, Pierre, says it's sure that it's striking militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan. And that they're not targeting civilians. Can they be sure? From your experience, can they be sure?

PIERRE SPREY: I'm sure that their purpose is to strike militants. I have no doubt of that whatsoever. But with the weapons they use and with the extremely flawed intelligence they have.

MARILYN YOUNG: Yes.

PIERRE SPREY: I'd be astonished if one in five people they kill or wound is in fact, a militant.

BILL MOYERS: What do you mean "flawed intelligence"?

PIERRE SPREY: You can't tell with a camera or an infrared sensor or something whether somebody's a Taliban. In the end, you're relying on either, you know, some form of intercepted communications, which doesn't point at a person. It just, you know, points at a radio or a cell phone or something like that. Or, most likely, you're relying on some Afghani of unknown veracity and unknown motivation and who may, may very well be trying to settle a blood feud rather than give you good information.

BILL MOYERS: I don't understand that because George W. Bush defined this as a war on terror. And I think Obama must be using the same invocation, you know?

PIERRE SPREY: Exactly.

BILL MOYERS: This is all part of the war on terror. He said it in his inaugural address.

PIERRE SPREY: Yes, he said that. I was appalled. You talk about our hearts sinking.

PIERRE SPREY: 9/11 was not an act of war.

BILL MOYERS: What was it?

PIERRE SPREY: It was a criminal act. It was a simple.

MARILYN YOUNG: Right.

PIERRE SPREY: Criminal act by a bunch of lunatic fanatic violent people who needed to be tracked down and apprehended and tried exactly as you would with any other lunatic violent person, like we do with our own domestic terrorists, like the guy who bombed the Oklahoma federal building.

BILL MOYERS: Federal building. Right.

PIERRE SPREY: You know? Exactly the same thing we did to him is what we should have launched on a huge basis, of course, on a huge international police basis and not called it.

MARILYN YOUNG: And there would have been totally international support.

Seton Hall Law: Department of Defense Wrong Again on GTMO “Recidivism”

The Seton Hall Center for Policy and Research has issued a report which rebuts and debunks the most recent claim by the Department of Defense (DOD) that “61, in all, former Guantánamo detainees are confirmed or suspected of returning to the fight.”

Professor Denbeaux of the Center for Policy & Research has said that the Center has determined that “DOD has issued 'recidivism' numbers 43 times, and each time they have been wrong—this last time the most egregiously so.”

Denbeaux stated: “Once again, they’ve failed to identify names, numbers, dates, times, places, or acts upon which their report relies. Every time they have been required to identify the parties, the DOD has been forced to retract their false IDs and their numbers. They have included people who have never even set foot in Guantánamo—much less were they released from there. They have counted people as 'returning to the fight' for their having written an Op-ed piece in the New York Times and for their having appeared in a documentary exhibited at the Cannes Film Festival. The DOD has revised and retracted their internally conflicting definitions, criteria, and their numbers so often that they have ceased to have any meaning—except as an effort to sway public opinion by painting a false portrait of the supposed dangers of these men.

"Forty-three times they have given numbers—which conflict with each other—all of which are seriously undercut by the DOD statement that 'they do not track' former detainees. Rather than making up numbers “willy-nilly” about post release conduct, America might be better served if our government actually kept track of them.”

Propaganda by the Numbers?


PROPAGANDA AS TERRORISM: RECIDIVISM BY THE NUMBERS
Time and time again, the Department of Defense, the Executive Branch, and other
government officials have claimed publicly that Guantánamo Bay detainees who have been
released have “returned to the battlefield” where they have then been re-captured or killed. On
January 13, 2009, during a press conference the Department of Defense provided its 43rd attempt
to report on the number of detainees released from Guantanamo who returned to the battlefield.
This latest report alleges that 61 detainees have returned to the battlefield. This report seeks to
examine the last numbers.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
1. The 43rd attempt to enumerate the number of detainees who have returned to the
battlefield is false by the Department of Defense’s own data and prior reports.
2. In each of its forty-three attempts to provide the numbers of the recidivist detainees,
the Department of Defense has given different sets of numbers that are contradictory
and internally inconsistent with the Department’s own data.
3. The Department of Defense does not keep track of released detainees nor does it
follow their post release conduct.
4. The Department of Defense’s previous statements about the post release conduct of
former Guantanamo detainees were produced in writing in July 2007 and May 2008.
5. The January 13, 2009 press statement identifies no names, dates, places nor any
conduct by released detainees. The raw numbers that are cited are unsupported,
inconsistent with all other statements and appear to be presented to support the
internal Department of Defense purposes.

POINT I: The Department of Defense’s First 42 Reports of Released Guantanamo
Detainees: Recidivism

1. Among the previous numbers of recidivist detainees, the Department of Defense has
alleged variously: one, several, some, a couple, a few, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, 12-24, 25, 29,
and 30. (See Appendix 1).

2. Eighty-two percent (82%) of the publicly made claims catalogued in Appendix 1 of
this report contain qualifying language, including terms such as: “at least”;1
“somewhere on the order of”;2 “approximately”;3 “around”;4 “just short of”;5 “we
believe”;6 “estimated”;7 “roughly”;8 “more than”;9 “a couple”;10 “a few”;11 “some”;12
“several”;13 and “about.”14

3. One would suppose that the number of “recidivists” would increase over time.
However, while the timeline does reveal a trend in a general upward direction over
time, there are notable deviations. For instance, in the months leading up to the midterm
election—from May 2006 until September 2006—the numbers proffered range
from “a couple”15 to “twenty-five (25)”16 During this same period, however, the
Department of Defense number remains constant at twelve (12). (See Appendix 1).

As to those held captive in Guantanamo, and any other country under the cheney/bush administrations request and demands, I certainly wouldn't blame them if they reverted to a combative retaliatory existence.

After being scooped up, taken to different countries or gitmo, held and tortured for now years, unable to contact family thousands of miles away, given no trials or even the government evidence of why they are being held or the charges, than after years released. It's not just going after the wrong people, or groups, it's even more about Failed Policies of so called 'Preemptive Invasions and than Occupations', on false intelligence, destroying and killing innocents, while referring to them as collateral damage!

Deepak Chopra: I was born in Delhi, but I have been in these hotels many, many times. I have stayed there, so I know the scene; I know the restaurants. I have been trying to get in touch with my friends and relatives, some of whom I have spoken to, some of whom I can't speak to. The lines are jammed. We're texting each other.

A friend of mine from Egypt was in the restaurant at the Taj hotel when the firing started, and somehow she managed to avoid the fray, hid in a basement and is now holed up in a room which is right next to the Taj hotel and is waiting to be told what to do.

The situation is complex, Larry, because it could inflame to proportions that we cannot even imagine. It has to be contained. We now recognize that this is a global problem, with only a global effort can solve this.

And you know, one of the things that I think is happening is that these militant terrorist groups are actually terrified that [President-elect Barack] Obama's gestures to the rest of the Muslim world may actually overturn the tables on them by alienating them from the rest of the Muslim world, so they're reacting to this.

You know, this is Obama's opportunity to actually harness the help of the Muslims.

You know, there's 1.8 billion Muslims in the world. That's 25 percent of the population of the world. It's the fastest-growing religion in the world. We cannot, if we do not appease and actually recruit the help of this Muslim world, we're going to have a problem on our hands.

And we cannot go after the wrong people, as we did after 9/11, because then the whole collateral damage that occurs actually aggravates the situation.

In India, this is particularly inflammatory, because there's a rise of Hindu fundamentalism. We saw what that did in Gujarat, where, you know, Muslims were scorched and they were killed, and there was almost a genocide of the Muslims.

India has 150 million Muslims. That's more Muslims in India than in Pakistan. So this is an opportunity right now for India and Pakistan to recognize this is their common problem. It's not a Muslim problem right now; it's a global problem.

King: Do you think that this is just the beginning, that there's a potential impact, or more?

Chopra: There is a potential impact of a lot more carnage. But it can be contained. And right now, one of the questions [is, given] that there are militant groups that cross international boundaries, is who is financing this? Where is the money coming from? We have to ask very serious, honest questions. What role do we have in this? Are our petrodollars funding both sides of this war on terrorism? Why are we not asking the Saudis where that money is going that we give them? Is it going through this supply chain to Pakistan?

It's not enough for Pakistan to condemn it. Pakistan should cooperate with India in uprooting this. They should be part of the surgery that is going to happen.

It's not enough for Indians to blame Pakistanis. Indians should actually ask the Pakistanis to help them.

And it's not enough for us to worry about Westerners being killed and Americans being killed. Every life is precious over there. We have got to get rid of this idea that this is an American problem or a Western problem. It's a global problem, and we need a global solution, and we need the help of all the Muslims, 25 percent of the world's population, to help us uproot this problem.

Before 9/11 - Taliban - al Qaeda

On the tenth anniversary of U.S. cruise missile strikes against al-Qaeda in response to deadly terrorist attacks on U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, newly-declassified government documents posted today by the National Security Archive (NS Archive) suggest the strikes not only failed to hurt Osama bin Laden but ultimately may have brought al-Qaeda and the Taliban closer politically and ideologically.

I've just glanced through some but the same questions come up that have with the remembering the reports on the Taliban and al Qaeda prior to 9/11, the many unanswered questions from the commission on 9/11, the dodging of questions and outright lies from some within the government, especially the administration, at the time and since, with more added as the policies of the administration exploded into the negatives for this country and it's national security and now negative standing amoung nations on this planet.


One question keeps growing, "With all this country must have known, through it's extremely well financed and technology advanced Intelligence Agencies, how were the acts of 9/11 allowed to happen?"!


The reasons given, intelligence sharing etc., are just to simplified to carry any weight, not after being told, and shown some, for years what our monies were buying and suspecting much more that was not told in the interest of National Security.

A 400-page Sandia National Laboratories report on bin Ladin { this is a big pdf download }, compiled in 1999, includes a warning about political damage for the U.S. from bombing two impoverished states without regard for international agreement, since such action "mirror imag[ed] aspects of al-Qaeda's own attacks" [see pp. 18-22 {pdf}]. A State Department cable {pdf} argues that although the August missile strikes were designed to provide the Taliban with overwhelming reason to surrender bin Laden, the military action may have sharpened Afghan animosity towards Washington and even strengthened the Taliban-al-Qaeda alliance.

Following the August 20 U.S. air attacks, Taliban spokesman Wakil Ahmed told U.S. Department of State officials {pdf} "If Kandahar could have retaliated with similar strikes against Washington, it would have." Such an attack, although unfeasible at the time, was at least in part actualized by al-Qaeda on 9/11.

Following the 1998 embassy bombings, the U.S. sought to extradite bin Laden to Saudi Arabia or possibly Egypt, but failed to get bin Laden out of Afghanistan because, at least according to the U.S. Department of State {pdf}, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were unable or unwilling to apply enough pressure to coerce Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Omar to surrender bin Laden.

The lengthy Sandia report compiled by Dr. Gary W. Richter {pdf} synthesizes an impressive volume of public-source information available on bin Laden into a coherent summary of the al-Qaeda terrorist threat following the August embassy bombings. The report concludes that the bombings did not take U.S. intelligence and diplomatic services by surprise, as the U.S. in 1998 had capable counterterrorism intelligence gathering and interdiction capabilities. However, according to the report, in retrospect, the August 20 retaliatory cruise missile strikes may have caused long-term political harm to U.S. national security and counterterrorism interests [see pp. 18-22 {pdf}]. The report contains extensive timelines, biographies and issue summaries and is useful for researchers interesting in the evolution of al-Qaeda and the American response.

Under Document 1 dated December 6, 1999 ou will find some information and backlinks along with these bullet points:

* The "war" against terrorism will never be "won," as terrorism will always be a global problem.

* The August 7, 1998, embassy bombings should not be taken as an indication that U.S. counterterrorism efforts are entirely ineffective.

* In response to the ongoing surveillance, threat evaluation and disruption operations, the members of this cell "felt themselves to be at "100% danger." [page 18]

* "In retrospect there were also specific indications of a bomb plot," however "it seems as if threat assessment personnel in Washington did not take the warning signs as seriously as did the embassy personnel in Nairobi." [page 19]

* The number of bombings prevented far exceeds the number of bombings that were not stopped by U.S. security efforts. [page 18]

* International criticism

* Questionable justice in that the strikes "killed only (or nearly only) individuals who were innocent of the embassy bombings"

* Reputational damage from disregarding alliances

* Questionable effectiveness in destroying or disrupting al-Qaeda or perspective terrorists

* Possible diminished impact for any future U.S. strikes by "demonstrating how little [the U.S] could achieve (e.g., limited physical damage)," by depleting ammunition, providing adversaries with an opportunity to observe and reformulate strategies based on observed vulnerabilities, and convincing bin Laden that the U.S. is unwilling to use higher-cost forms of force that would put U.S. personnel at risk

* "The attack provoked a new round of terrorist bombing plots."

* Bin Laden received a good deal of publicity and "appeared to many as an underdog standing firm in the face of bullying aggression."

* The Taliban's poor control over Afghanistan "may mean that they shouldn't bear responsibility for the acts of those on their soil."

* The U.S. may have given away the moral high ground by mirroring certain aspects of bin Laden's strategy with the attacks, and the U.S. bombed targets in independent third-world countries without concern for the sensitivities or sovereignty of those nations.

* Justified under domestic law

* Calling attention to the bin Laden-Taliban connection, which complicated the Taliban's ability to gain international recognition as well as their future ability to justify support for Muslim fundamentalist groups

* Demonstrated U.S. resolve, dedication to dealing with terrorism as a matter of national security, and the reach of U.S. military power

* Provides incentives for nations to cooperate in U.S. counterterrorism activities, if for no other reason but to avoid unilateral action

* May deter terrorists and nations from harboring terrorists

Where Iraq fits into all this sits only in the minds of those who wanted an invasion an regime change for years before, those who once supported that dictatorship, and saw wealth and extreme power in toppling their once friend and allie, and controlling a country in the center of the region to grant expansion of that extreme wealth and power.


What the invasion and occupation of Iraq has accomplished is far beyond what any extremist anywhere in the region or not hoped for, total unrest and hatreds. One needs only look at Afghanistan today, the Pakistan border region and Pakistan, the continuation of actions in the Iraq theater, the push back by the Iranians and their preparations to ward off attack by anyone, Guerilla Insurgents reportedly flowing into the border region from all over and waging growing destructive attacks on Nato forces and the Afghans, and the growing Criminal Terror attacks in other points outside of these theaters.


Where we once might have had friends an allies we created enemies.


Where we had the chance to better relations with the other powers they are ignoring us and recently sticking our own actions right back in our faces, they will allie with the region those few wanted to control, against us.


And we as a Nation will move on in our Apathy, holding No One Accountable, an with no knowledge of what the future brings, only knowing it will not be what it should have been!

Church Shooting, Another Terrorists Attack!!!

Just like School Shootings and one can name a whole range of Tragic incidents that fall under the Exact Description we give of Terrorism, in the Theaters of Iraq and Afghanistan and around the World. Nobody has stopped Terrorists Attacks in this Country, this one for the Hate against what the shooter was led to believe about a Political Ideology he didn't understand, nor even his own!!

Chief: Church gunman says he acted out of 'hatred for the liberal movement'

The church, like many other Unitarian Universalist churches, promotes progressive social work, such as desegregation and fighting for the rights of women and gays. The Knoxville congregation has provided sanctuary for political refugees, fed the homeless and founded a chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union, according to its website.

Karen Massey, who lived two houses from Adkisson's home, told the Knoxville News Sentinel of a lengthy conversation she had with Adkisson a couple years ago after she told him her daughter had just graduated from Johnson Bible College. She said she ended up having to explain to him that she was a Christian.

"He almost turned angry," she told the newspaper. "He seemed to get angry at that. He said that everything in the Bible contradicts itself if you read it."

In one of the earlier breaking news articles they said the police found a 'manifesto' in his vehicle at the church. The quote about comes from an earlier report that's linked from the link title above.

Will we start seeing more of these attacks? Have we already but nothing was left and the shooters were killed? Is this a result of the Hate Speech News we get from outlets not giving Real News but opinions of a few who make money for themselves and others, huge amounts? So Many Questions??????

Iraq Getting Lonelier For U.S.

Rudd has said the Iraq deployment has made Australia more of a target for terrorism.

Though the damage is already done, from the invasion and occupation, the hatreds intensified, new enemies established, Australia ends Iraq combat operations, after their five years of wrongly following the failed policies of the U.S. and joining the small contingent of the coalition of the willing.

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was swept into office in November largely on the promise that he would bring home the country's 550 combat troops by the middle of 2008.

War Has Increased Terrorism Sevenfold WORLDWIDE!

An exclusive Mother Jones investigation -- being released today -- that documents how jihadist terrorism around the world has increased since the invasion of Iraq.
The study, by terrorism experts Peter Bergen and Paul Cruickshank, uses data from the RAND Corporation to produce the first public report that measures the "Iraq effect" on jihadist terrorism. Their report is summarized in the March issue of Mother Jones magazine and can be found in its Entirety Online at MotherJones.com . It documents that since the invasion of Iraq in 2003, incidents of jihadist violence in the world have increased by 607 percent, and the number of people killed in those attacks has risen by 237 percent.
Excluding violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, the authors found a 35 percent rise in the number of jihadist attacks and a 12 percent rise in fatalities worldwide. They found that the rate of attacks on Western interests and citizens has risen by almost 25 percent.
This new study comes at a pivotal time as Congress and President Bush contend over authority to manage the war and its statistical analysis casts further doubt on the Bush administration's claim that the Iraq invasion has helped stem global terrorism.

We had another rash of Church Burnings recently {in this Christian Southern State and Nation}, I caught a blurb of the following on the local Newscast this morning, did a quick search and found this:

A noose, handguns, knives and banners with swastikas were seized during a search of the suspects' mobile home in Winterville, police said. Anderson called the group isolated, small and unorganized.

Four charged with kidnapping, conspiracy
Police: Local people associated themselves with neo-Nazi group

Authorities took four people, including a mother and son, into custody and charged them with kidnapping and conspiring to kill a Dutch national. All four are apparently connected to a white supremacist group, authorities say.

During Friday's news conference, police displayed multiple items taken from the locations they searched, including a red-and-white flag bearing a swastika and the motto "National Sozialistische D.A.P."; two other flags with swastikas; a hangman's noose; two handguns; eight knives, including one with two blades; six computer processing units; a stop sign marked with a swastika and racial epithet and multiple items of clothing.

They apparently had a website up which, according to the news article has been shut down.

Wonder if this group of Non-Terrorists, White Supremists, Neo-Nazi's, were Church goers themselves, like some I've met here but seem to only Speak the Hatred not Act on their Thoughts, or do they!

One can pick up the News, daily, and see the reports, depending on where you live, of Gang Shootings {if you're not with us you're agin us}, or random killings {how many are related to Hate Crimes, especially the ones not solved}, random Arsons {once again might they be Hate Crimes}, and you can find other instances that are reported, or not, that would be considered 'Terrorists Acts' under the Definition, never clearly defined but used on others in other places.

When are people, here, going to start putting, into focus, the realities. Our history is full of 'Criminal Terrorists' actions and realities, right from the beginning of those europeans landing on these shores to the present and will continue.

Than we have what should be called the 'Terrorists Attacks', again by our undefined definition, by good ole Mother Nature, and why not call them that.

Why do people, who've never been to a War Theater keep saying that, oh ya they see Pictures and Film of the Conflicts, real or in movies of. And ya it does look a little like a War Zone, but 'Mother Nature' comes and shortly after it's gone, she isn't there 24/7 Destroying and Killing, day after day after day, never knowing when one might become another fatality of the Wrath of Destruction!

The greater majority have Never been close to a Conflict and wouldn't put themselves there Voluntarily.

While calling others Terrorist and fearing their Arrival on these shores they cheer our exporting of Terror on others in small countries, any place else on this planet!

How many times have those same thoughts passed through the minds and lips of others, in the invaded countries, untill the death and destruction becomes so common place that it touches All the Individuals living in those little Occupied Countries, and in many cases Whole Families are Destroyed!

Do the cities or burbs of Florida, today, or anyplace else here, except the now neglected Gulf Coast have a resemblance to the Cities of Iraq, or how about Lebanon, or Afganistan, or the Villages and Cities in many places in Africa.

Parts of those Florida area's do, small parts, and the Danger is Long Pass now, though many in Central Florida are probably thinking they are damn close to a War Theater as they've been hit a number of times in these past few years, but Not Daily.

If we're going to have a 'War on Terror' than let it begin Right Here in the States, where's the 'Shock and Awe', where's the Actual Show of Bloated, Arrogant, 'Mochoism' that passes out of the mouths of many but not in Actions.

People here need to live in What We Export, and if we're going to label others as 'Terrorists' we had better start taking care of our own Ingrown 'Terrorists Cells', and their all over. If not in 'Cells' than in individual thoughts, actions and speach. Just watch or listen to our many media outlets. Or how about the pulpits of the churches, and the so called religious leaders. Read postings on the many websites, chat boards, political boards, in articles, in daily conversations etc. etc. etc..

Just change a few words and they All Are Preaching that of which we Condemn Others of!

So let the Bombs start Dropping, the War to begin, the Destruction and Death to start, I'm ready!

The Next Jihadists: Iraq’s Lost Children

Newsweek has another Powerful Report coming out in it's Jan 22nd Issue.
Many, well before this Debacle started, and in the lead up to and since, were warning about this scenario of the youth growing up under Occupation, Death, Destruction of their Country and their People and what it might bring in the future.

My belief now is that it has gone way to far and will be an extremely long time, if ever, when the realities and common sense can bring about change in peoples minds and hearts, especially in that region but also here!

The universal question in the U.S., after 9/11, was "Why Do They Hate Us So?". That question was easy to answer than, if one wasn't apathedic of world affairs, because of our failed foreign policies for decades in that region, and it's even easier to answer now, it's laid out before us! Not just in a War Waged for Absolutely NO REASON, but also in the rethoric of hate and childish hateful name calling spoken on our public airways and read on many of these online boards and in the main stream media as well! Not only as to those who are fighting our occupation and now their own sectarian griefs, but we lump a whole peoples, because of religious beliefs and regional ideologies into the same label 'Terrorists', which is a criminal act by the few, but growing number, and should be looked at as same, Criminal!

His father was a brigadier in Saddam Hussein's Army, a man who saw combat in his country's several wars, and from an early age Ammar had accompanied him to the shooting range. "I got used to the sound of guns then," Ammar says. So he was ready, last fall, when the imam in his Baghdad neighborhood urged residents to take up arms against the invader—who in this case happened to be members of a Shiite militia trying to push into the predominantly Sunni area. Ammar joined the neighborhood watch, a ragtag bunch of men who stand guard nightly at improvised roadblocks and rooftop observation posts. In mid-October Ammar fought his first big battle against soldiers from the Mahdi Army—"the garbage collectors and robbers," as he contemptuously refers to the Shiite militia. He says he put his Kalashnikov assault rifle to good use: "I think I injured or even killed two of them. Our group killed more than six of them that night."

There is no need to brainwash a child into becoming, in that region, a Jihadist. they are there, it is their countries, it is their regions, they are living the hell 24/7, and many can't leave. They don't serve a tour of one year, they serve a tour of duration, if they survive!

Sectarian warfare is reshaping Iraq in all sorts of malevolent ways day in and day out. But it is also forging the future by poisoning the next generation of Iraqis. Like many of its neighbors, Iraq is a young country: nearly half the population is under the age of 18. And those children have had a particularly turbulent upbringing. Kids like Ammar were born in the aftermath of one debilitating war, against neighboring Iran, then suffered two others and years of impoverishing sanctions in between. They are especially vulnerable to the demons that now grip Iraq. Hassan Ali, a sociologist at the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, estimates that at least 1 million Iraqi kids have seen their lives damaged by the war—they've lost parents and homes, watched as their communities have been torn apart by sectarian furies. "These children will come to believe in the principles of force and violence," says Ali. "There's no question that society as a whole is going to feel the effects in the future"—and not only Iraqi society. From the Middle East to Europe to America, violence may well beget violence around the world for years to come.

As generations grow farther away from old hatreds and failed policies they become very distant memories to each succesive generation, untill the fires are stoked, than those hatreds come roaring back and grip the newer generation into actions they never would have been involved in only a short time before. Than the Pandora's Box is completely broken, leaving nothing to encase those hatreds in, and they run rampant for long periods of time leaving death and destruction in their wake!

Blood and Memory: The Cycle Has Started
Iraq's vendettas could haunt the west for years.

Blood feuds flourish where family ties are strong and the rule of law is weak. Add the righteousness of competing faiths along with fierce memories of ancient wrongs and you have the makings of savage, seemingly endless conflicts from Northern Ireland to the Balkans, the lake regions of Africa to the arid Holy Land. And Iraq—well, Iraq is in a class by itself: a breeder reactor where explosive hatreds were both incited and contained by Saddam Hussein's brutality, only to become an uncontrolled chain reaction after the U.S.-led invasion liberated both the country and its vendettas. Arab culture cannot be solely blamed for the furies that have been unleashed in Iraq since 2003. But it guarantees they will not be soon, or easily, tamed.

We allowed the Flood gates to be open to these old hatreds and have made more growing hatreds the reality now. We invaded a country, once again for No Reason, we destroyed and killed and are still carrying out that death and destruction, we installed another puppet government, in a country we had already done the same before, we are picking sides in the sectarian violence that those who led the charge for this War had Absolutely No Understanding of before and still don't!

The tradition of "an eye for an eye" is so ancient and dangerously ingrained among the desert Arabs that 1,400 years ago the Qur'an called on good Muslims to forgo vengeance in order to expiate their sins. But the old codes of honor remained, and in the most troubled parts of Iraq today, increasingly, they prevail. When governments cannot or will not protect the people, then families, clans, tribes, gangs and militias will. (Indeed, among the Shiites of Karbala, gang rule has a history as old and complex as the mafia in Sicily.) As these groups gain strength, the central government and its modern institutions weaken further.

Blame for the Top Brass
And I would add to their title the Extreme Blame to the Civilian Leadership of This Country!

Given all the recriminations over the mess in Iraq, it is remarkable how little criticism has fallen on the U.S. military. Americans want to honor the sacrifice of the troops in the field and they may feel guilty about the cold reception given many veterans returning from the Vietnam War. But in the public blame game that's erupted on Capitol Hill and on the cable news talk shows, the armed services are largely given a free pass.
Some top soldiers, however, aren't so sure they should be let off the hook. Is there, NEWSWEEK asked retired Gen. William Nash, who commanded U.S. forces in Bosnia in the 1990s and remains plugged in, a sense within the Army of mistakes made in Iraq? "It's pervasive," he answered. Gen. Jack Keane, the Army vice chief of staff at the time of the Iraq invasion in March 2003, told NEWSWEEK: "Everyone recognizes that we made mistakes. The harder part is what to learn from them."

MISTAKES!!! The Mistake was going in in the first place The Mistake was not understanding that one does not Kill and Destroy others into their thoughts of 'Freedom' and their ideology of 'Democracy', especially as they redefine that 'Democracy' in their own land which is looking more and more like a redefined ideology of the old Fascisms that was thought to be beaten down!

A Defining Realignment

Ted Kennedy speaks with the voice of history. White-maned and nearing 75, the brother of two assassinated heroes and a veteran of 44 Senate years, he is—in defiance of the odds—again in his prime: a chairman in good health with a doting wife and a packed legislative agenda.
No one tells Ted Kennedy what to do; in any case, the Senate's Democratic leaders were fine with his plan to give a big speech two days before President George W. Bush announced a troop "surge" in Iraq. They are generally glad to let Kennedy play the role he relishes: Irish-American Isaiah, calling his party to account even as legislative insiders keep their distance.
This time party brass got more than they bargained for. Summoning the authority of his years as an intimate witness to history, Kennedy made an eloquent case for a Senate vote on the surge and for a court test of its legitimacy under the War Powers Resolution. "Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam!" he thundered. "Echoes of that disaster are all around us today!"
It was, in its own way, a defining moment. He got a standing ovation and, the next day, congratulations all around on the Hill. By the end of the week—in the aftermath of Bush's tepid speech and Condi Rice's evasive testimony—Kennedy looked prescient.

The voices of intelligent experiances and lessons learned, not just a Kennedy but millions strong, were completely shut off, called 'Focus Groups' by what has been shown over and over an extremely unintelligent group of power brokers and their minions!
I believe these minions would follow this group into another 'Jonestown' if called upon, that's how empty headed they frankly are, empty words, empty rethoric, consistantly wrong, and consistantly biggotted!

We Might 'Win', But Still Lose

'Win', one does not win a Guerilla War, they may shutdown, for a short time, sectarian violence, but as has already been seen that violence will rear it's ugly head once again for the hatreds have been unleased and by us still being there and supporting our puppets those hatreds will remain!
